I (heart) Katja Kassin (NSFW)

This ain't safe for work, yo.

Now that I have my parental advisory sticker (look to the right), I can post the occasional bit of adult material.
The following TGP (thumbnail gallery post) is proof of why I think Katja Kassin is the finest porn star on the planet. Not only that, it also drives home the fact that the world of incredible asses is not just inhabited by the thickest of sistas, thank you very much.

Brought to you by those nasty Bang Bros.

Now I feel dirty. I really should open a separate blog for this kinda thing.

I won't make this a habit.

Random Thoughts: September 24th, 2005

  • The current crop 1st and 2nd year Graphic Design students at Red River are fucked. There are currently 60 2nd years and 70 1st year students. Way too fuckin' many. I like to think that me and the other folks that finished the program recently were the last to get a truly good education. Seriously, I feel for these kids, man.
  • The 3rd years, however, are sittin' pretty, with their own room and brand-spankin' new G5s to work with. Good for them.
  • Shows I'm lookin' forward to: Atmosphere on Oct. 1st (check this review and the comments following. Hilarious. Basically, I'm going to this show because I'm a fan of Blueprint*, one of the openers on this tour), Black Mountain on Oct. 4th, Feist on Oct. 13th, and Heavy Trash on Nov. 5th. That last one is gonna slay.
  • In the Hall of Hot Stylized Cartoon Moms, Maddie Fenton ranks high.
* I liked Blueprint's album 1988 better than Pitchfork did.

I can't remember the last time I wanted something so much. (2)

Feast your eyes upon this, unworthy heathens:

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Have you ever seen something this beautiful? No, you haven't. Trust me.
What is it, you ask? It's the 4th poster in the Arcade Fire/Burlesque of North America series, done up by Wezz Winship and the Burlesque crew, starring Mr. Aaron "Hands of God" Horkey.
Take a close look, y'all...Winnipeg's date on the tour is at the bottom left.
How can you get one? Don't act like you don't want one, fucker. Hell, you NEED this. Well, if you're gonna attend that Winnipeg (or the Saskatoon) date, you can get it there. If you're like me and don't care for the Arcade Fire (don't get me wrong...I respect 'em), you can buy it from the B of NA folks after the tour is over (I do believe that's October 8th).

This thing is so majestic. I think I'm gonna cry. S'cuse me. *sniff*

I can't remember the last time I wanted something so much.

Look at that thing. That's 80 years (!) of publishing history right there. Articles, cartoons, ads (!!), everything.

Check the virual tour

That, my friends, is a "must-have" if there ever was one.

Battle Vixens

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
Girl-on-girl fightin' action, upskirtage, large breasts AND a perfectly executed German suplex. This manga has everything, yo.

On a whim, while lookin' for something a little different, I started reading Battle Vixens the comic book (manga) by Yuji Shiozaki. What can I say...I love it!
The story centers around the super-chesty and tough-as-nails Hakufu and her rough-ass life at Nanyo Acadamy. Everyone at Nanyo (including her blue-balled cousin, Koukin) is a toushi: fighters that have each inherited a Magatama ( a jewel that draws out the full fighting potential of its owner). It gets a tad more complicated after that...I'll leave it to you to find out more n' shit.
What y'all really need to know is this: it's a hoot. The action sequences (there are many) are perfectly rendered and plotted out. I'm in awe of Shiozaki's drawing ability. He's created a manga title that appeals to the fan of action and naughty bits (there are copious upskirts and semi-nekkid to nekkid breasts...yummy.). Go get it, sucka.

Pitchfork Does Right by R.L.

Mark Richardson gives a pretty accurate review of the re-issue of A Ass Pocket of Whiskey:
http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/record-reviews/b/burnside_rl/ass-pocket-of-whiskey.shtml
The difference between me n' him, is that I LOVE this fuckin' album.

Illustration Friday: "Depth" and other topics that I wanted to post.

These are all really quick. While I was in Roanoke, I had web access, but no freakin' scanner.
First, this week's topic...

Depth:
(this was like, the second thing that came to mind. The first was falling down a hole)

This Just In...

Looks like I might be in a lucha libre-based show!
Here's the first mention of it by Buddy Lee Roth (of the mighty Tijuana Bibles), followed by me, Johnny Crap and Dan Springer voicing our interest, and the acceptance.

Too fuggin' cool.

This Side Up

Y'know that cardboard art show I've been talking about? Well in addition to the 60+ page thread at gigposters.com, there is now an official site:

So Long, Miz...Hello, Lögberg-Heimskringla.

Yup.
Al'z a "dirt samurai" no more.
Starting tomorrow, I'll be doing graphic design for Winnipeg-based Scandinavian newspaper Lögberg-Heimskringla (yeah, it's a mouthful). I'm really looking foward to this.

Projects, projects, projects...

Man, it's late.
Anyway...I'm writing this, because I want to keep y'all up to date, plus it'll serve as a public get-your-ass-in-gear kind of thing.
  1. The Cardboard Show. I mentioned this previously. All of our pieces are due on the 1st of November. We're all responsible for 3 of 'em. Should be fun. Fun, yes...but I must also "bring it". There's a lot of really good motherfuckers in this thing.
  2. Successtories. A cool comic/zine thing published by Steve "Cerdo" Tenebrini. My shit's due Oct. 1st. It'll get done.
  3. The GP Blackbook Project. This ones a real doozy. In the spirt of 1000 Journals, Scott Blake has decided to get a bunch of the Gigposters.com suckas together to fill a sketchbook, which will then be auctioned off on eBay. The proceeds will then go to GP's headmaster Clayton Hayes, because he fuckin' rules. Who knows when this thing'll head my way. It'll soon be in the capable hands of Elizabeth Daggar.
So yeah...that's what's up. I'm excited...and anxious. Quite naturally, I don't wanna fuck up any of these things.
Well...I've got a job interview in (looks at alarm clock)...6 hours. Peace.

Sam Sugar's Podnography

Y'all know me...I'm a perv. I likes me some porn, dammit.
Which brings me to the topic of this here post: Podnography, hosted by British ex-pat Sam Sugar. His podcast, which I discovered through Fleshbot, appeals not only to my base urges, but it's also a fun, witty, and intelligent good time. Other than CBC Radio 3's weekly podcast, this is one I truly look forward to listening to.
To get acquainted with Podnography, check the first installment here.

R.I.P R.L. Burnside

Clarion Ledger story

Like a lot of folks, my introduction to the magic of R.L. was through that badmotherfucker of an album, A Ass Pocket of Whiskey. That combination of a bluesman I had never heard of and my favorite band in the world (the Blues Explosion) is one of the best albums I've heard in my short time on this planet. It isn't a collaboration, it's a collision. That album is the embodiement of the blues to me.

Shortly after that, Mr. Wizard was released. "Over the Hill" and "You Gotta Move" are the most soulful moments on that album, and they get pretty regular rotation on my iTunes (yo...that's about as far away from the Delta as you can get).

After that, several albums followed that needlessly combined R.L.'s country blues with beats. Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't (I couldn't keep Wish I Were in Heaven Sitting Down; it dissapointed me greatly. The rawness was missing.). To get a real feel for the man, you gotta pick up those previously-mentioned albums and his early stuff, which Fat Possum has re-issued.

A few years ago, R.L. and his band (Cedric Burnside and Kenny Brown) were scheduled to appear at a riverside concert in St. Boniface (Winnipeg's French neighbourhood). Only Kenny and Cedric made it, as R.L. fell ill. I missed most of their set, but getting to meet Cedric afterwards totally made up for it (that, and watching Alejandro Escovedo later).

I'm really saddened by this. Katrina killed New Orleans and Biloxi, and now we've lost the last of the Mississippi bluesmen. Sometimes, it doesnt pay to get out of bed.

So I'm Back...

...and up way too late, downloading naughty stuff.
Hey. It's been three weeks.
