Oh, look...the other shoe dropped!

Naylor Parking Lot
 Naylor Parking Lot, January 2011.

Well, the lot pictured above will cease to be a familiar sight for me as of next month. What started with a rather ominous and puzzling email sent to the evening staff, ended with our jobs cut.
I should be bummed (and I am, a little), but I'm cautiously optimistic about the future. I've got an opportunity to get out of my comfort zone and re-evaluate my goals. Maybe I'll get that face tat I've always wanted.

Guess who's gotta write a resume? (raises hand)

Meh, you so talented Al. I'm sure you'll be banking double in no time.

I had no idea that place looked so stark.

You seem to have a good attitude here, so I won't play that up. But get that resume set, lemme know if you need any proofreading or editing.

This last month is gonna be weird. How will they keep folks even close to motivated?

That building to the left houses the Winnipeg sales staff. The one to the right and behind me houses the printing/bindery area and the pre-press cubicle farm. It's a sprawling bit of property!

I'll be sure to holler at you if time allows on the cover letter tip. I got a friend/fellow employee to give it a look. Gonna trim the fat and make corrections this afternoon.

I'm outta there February 23rd, and the numbers will continue to dwindle until June, I guess. And you're totally right in wondering about motivation, other than getting paid for the time being. It doesn't make any sense!
